my close friend had cancer and told few people

He has trouble trusting people, he grew up in an abusive home after his mother abandoned him at the age of 6.  He had been to the hospital a few times from the abuse as a child, yet continued to live with the drunkard father.

A month ago he was “missing” no texts, no calls, not even a facebook status.

I found out it was because he had cancer, my 18 year old friend had testicular cancer
his surgery was successful and he is now in remission

He told me about this all last night as if he got a tooth pulled, he doesn’t seem to take this with much weight 

I feel like his older sister always guiding him and listening to him so I’m hurt he didn’t come to me, scared that he’ll have trouble in remission, nervous that something TERRIBLE will happen while he begins his first semester at college. 

I want the best for my friend, he’s so strong, and so motivated.  He has two jobs and has always wanted to be a neurosurgeon, I hope I can see him in his white coat one day and call him Dr David
